In 1999 Steve Sharp was called to bring the Gospel to Turkmenistan, one of the most closed countries in the world. Steve completed a worship CD for Turkmenistan and was invited to serve as the grand marshal of an international music festival where he presented the CD as a gift from the United States. Unfortunately, when the president of Turkmenistan realized the CD was Christian music, Steve was briskly escorted out of the country.
Before leaving Steve noticed that almost every dwelling had a satellite dish giving access to programming untouched by the government. The ministry soon began broadcasting Christian satellite programs across Central Asia and the Middle East.
In 2008 Steve founded Global Heart Ministries. As millions heard the Gospel through satellite television and online platforms, the ministry began working to connect seekers and new believers to local Underground Churches.
